Our dermatology department at pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Thiruvalla has been functioning from 1985 onwards. Now one of kerala’s leading centres for patients with skin disease, Sexually transmitted Diseases, Leprosy and Cosmetic problems.  

  • We treat a wide range of skin diseases from common ones to rare and very severe conditions requiring treatments not available elsewhere in Kerala.
  • We have a MCI recognised postgraduate training centre in Dermatology, Venereology, Leprology and Cosmetic Dermatology.

All diseases pertaining to the skin and its appendages like Hair,sebaceous glands,sweat glands, and nails and also Dermatology problems due to internal diseases and malignancies.

We treat all Sexually transmitted disease and Sexual problems

We diagnose and treat all verieties of Leprosy and connected problems.

All sorts of skin tumors and warts and callosities and all non healing ulcers

All cosmetic problems and dermatological corrective surgeries for the correction and improvement of appearences in the skin.

  • Iontophoresis for patients with increased sweating of palms and soles (hands and feet).
  • Whole body chamber for PUVA,Broad band UVB and Narrow Band UVB therapies are special types of light used to treat skin problems. This is mainly for patients with vitiligo, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. This Phototherapy starts from 8.30 am for patients going to their office/school.
  • UVA and UVB Hand and foot therapy unit
  • Skin biopsyfor diagnosing skin disorders.
  • Cryotherapyfreezes small areas of skin. This is done for warts.
  • Trichloroacetic acid cautery for Molluscum contagiosum, Warts, Skin tags etc
  • Chemical pealing for Xanthelasma Palpebrarum
  • Radiosurgeryand electrocautery are used to remove warts/small growths.
  • Intralesional injections– injection of the medicine into the skin problem itself. The injections are done for keloids. Keloids are scars that are thick.
  • Glycolic acid peels, Trichloroacer & salicylic acid peels are used for reducing acne scar and pigmentation (colouring) on face.
  • Subcision,Comedone extraction and Punch excision are therapies for acne.
  • Saucerization for Chronic non healing plantar ulcers
  • Nail Avulsion removes the nail. Nail avulsion and splinting are for the ingrowing of nails.
  • Wedge resection of nails for Ingrowing toe nails
  • Mini & Micropunch and Suction blister grafting for Vitiligo
  • Microdermabrasion  also known as the Parisian Peel or “lunchtime peel,” is a quick non-invasive procedure for resurfacing the skin without any downtime. The top layers of damaged skin are exfoliated, promoting the formation of new, smoother skin.
  • Patch testis to find the cause of allergic contact dermatitis. Small amounts of the problem, eg pollen, are put onto the skin to see what happens.
  • Lasers

           Treatments are offered for:

  2. Removal of pigmented lesions (liver spots)

  • Erbium YAG laser for the removal of Facial wrinkles and scars
  • Q switched Nd YAG laser for the removal of Tattoos and pigmented lesions.
  • Cosmetic dermatological surgeries for the treatment of scars other mnor deformities with local anaesthesia.
  • Hair transplantation( FUE and FUT ) for baldness and defects in hair bearing areas.
  • Chemical peals for pigmentary problems like melisma and post inflammatory pigmentation Peels bring the benefits of alpha-hydroxy acids to improve skin texture and tone, lessen fine lines and bring about a healthier more youthful appearance. Results are achieved through a series of peels.
